- The most significant trend in graduates' career patterns is the increased proportion that attend graduate and professional schools and ultimately earn an advanced degree as time from graduation increases.
- Urbana graduates attend graduate and professional school at nearly double the rates of Chicago and Springfield graduates in the first year. This is the result of higher percentages attending medical, veterinary, and law schools, and those in doctoral programs.
- Chicago and Urbana graduates attend graduate school at fairly high rates. Thirty-five to forty percent of graduates earn an advanced degree within five years of graduation. In the future, 35-60% will earn an additional degree within the first ten years of their graduation from their undergraduate program.
