Feedback to NRC, Fall 2004
Following a meeting with Charlotte Kuh and Jim Voytuk on August 26, 2004, representatives of the AAU Data Exchange (AAUDE) agreed to solicit feedback on the NRC questionnaires and taxonomy from their member institutions. A query was sent to AAUDE members during the first few days of September that included copies of the questionnaires, taxonomy, and an Excel file to organize their feedback. A few days later, Peter Syverson of the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) sent a similar query to their membership.

The AAUDE Coordinator received 65 responses from 54 institutions (24 of which are AAU schools) between September 6 and September 27, 2004. Most of the feedback came from Offices of Graduate Studies (n=37); five responses came from Institutional Research offices; five were jointly submitted by Graduate Studies and IR offices; one was submitted by a current graduate student and the rest came from other campus administrators at the department, college and campus level.

The feedback was aggregated into an Access database, which was used to generate the summary reports. The following shows the list of reports generated from the feedback:

In each report, the feedback is grouped by the question being answered and identifies the institution, name, and office affiliation(s) of the primary respondent. As is mentioned earlier, many responses came from more than one individual. The entire listing of people – along with their institution, office, and email address – who provided feedback are included in a report titled:

When this query was sent out, the University of California had already begun their own process for gathering feedback on the questionnaires and taxonomy. A summary of their preliminary feedback is included in the "Other Feedback" report and the details are included as a separate document.
